ADHD SCREENING PILOTS
ADHD LIBERTY WORLDWIDE are passionate believers that ADHD should be screened for in children in schools from the age of 5 and at every school transition.
We also believe that ADHD should be screened for throughout the entire criminal justice system.
ADHD Screening in the Criminal Justice System
We believe screening should happen specifically in –
Police stations when people are first arrested which is often at a very young age with unmanaged ADHD. It’s not unusual for ADHD 9 or 10-year-olds to find themselves in a police station.
Youth Offending Services should be screening all new clients as part of their induction process. Catching children young can divert them from the School-to-Prison pipeline.
Probation Services should be screening every single client as receiving the right diagnosis and ADHD management will dramatically reduce the likelihood of reoffending.
Young Offender Institutes should be screening every young person on the Induction Wing when they first enter a prison. The correct diagnosis will change a young person’s life trajectory.
Adult male and female prisons should be screening every adult during their first two weeks on the Indiction Wing.
This will dramatically reduce self-harm and suicide.
And we don't stop there!
We also believe ADHD and should be routinely screened for in other areas there is a high prevalence of undiagnosed ADHD negatively impacting peoples’ lives.
As we know there is a strong link between ADHD and addiction, screening for ADHD should be the first step any practitioner takes when working with a new client. ADHD should be ruled out – or more likely in – before any addiction treatment plan is put in place.
And also homelessness support services. When a person presents as homeless and is seen by any sort of support worker, ADHD needs to be screened for first.
Why?
THE REASON WE ARE SO DETERMINED ADHD SHOULD BE SCREENED FOR IN ALL THE ABOVE SERVICES IS EXACTLY THE SAME:
BECAUSE IT WILL CHANGE AND SAVE THOUSANDS OF LIVES
So now you realise it is critical - how do you do that?
It’s actually a lot more simple than people would have you believe.
Screening for ADHD is free and to make it even easier we have our own screeners which you can use. We have two screeners. One for children and one for adults. The screeners mark themselves and you can then email it the result to yourself or your support worker, parents, Social Worker or anybody who is involved in your care.
Run a Pilot with ADHD Liberty Worldwide
We welcome anybody working in the criminal justice system, youth services, addiction and homelessness services to run pilots in conjunction with ADHD Liberty.
This doesn’t cost you anything and we will give you absolutely everything you need to run a pilot of any size and any length.
And if you don’t work in any of those services and still want to screen? We welcome you just as much.
