ADHD LEGAL SUPPORT
Depending on the circumstances we can provide any of the following ~
If you or someone you are helping believe they have ADHD but are not diagnosed yet, an urgent pre-assessment can be arranged usually within 1 to 2 weeks. Including for clients who are currently in prison. We are very experienced at arranging ADHD and autism assessments into prisons.
Any coexisting conditions, or ‘comorbidities’ can be identified and referrals made for urgent assessments. These may include dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and any number of physical coexisting conditions.
A pre-court report prepared on the client’s Neurodivergence both diagnosed and undiagnosed.
A second report detailing how each of the ADHD/Neurodivergent traits identified has impacted every element of any criminal behaviour.
Directions on mitigating evidence and reduced culpability.
We will attend court and represent the client as an Expert Witness and can liaise beforehand with Solicitors and Barristers.
We can be instructed by any solicitor and very often Legal Aid can be awarded to pay for our services. We cannot apply for this but your solicitor can.
We work with children, adolescents and adults.
We are based in the UK but work internationally.
How We've Helped
My teenage ADHD son did something impulsive whilst off his medication and was facing criminal charges as a result. We contacted ADHD Liberty Worldwide as we had no idea where to start with trying to help him navigate this complex situation.
We were immediately put in contact with and met with Jo, an ADHD Specialist Social Worker who produced a comprehensive report to send to the Police explaining the situation and how our son’s ADHD had been instrumental in his poor decision making.
As a result of this report, and a very understanding Police Officer, the case has been completely dropped on Jo’s recommendations. Our son has learnt a valuable lesson from this without gaining a criminal record for a decision highly influenced by his neurodiversity.
He has also now engaged with therapy to help him build the executive functioning skills to help prevent this happening again in the future and to get him back on track with where he wants to be in life.
